Chair
PUF's Steve Mitnick: How do you start your day at the Georgia PSC?
Chair McDonald: I get here early, around seven a.m. every morning, and start out the day as a very independent person. I accept the challenges that I will face during the day.
PUF: What made you want to run for the Commission?
Chair McDonald: I didn't want to run. Former Governor Zell Miller and I ran for the same office that he won in 1990. In his last year as governor of Georgia, there was a vacancy here on the Commission. It became his duty to fill that vacancy by appointment. He called me in and wanted me.
Frankly, after the first meeting with him, I turned him down. I said I wasn't interested. I had my businesses that I was working in, and I was also president of a group called Georgians For Better Transportation.
