PUF: Tell us about your role at the Commission.
Hisham Choueiki: I am the Director of the Office of the Federal Energy Advocate. We are responsible for two core functions.
Our federal energy advocate team is responsible for monitoring the activities of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and other federal agencies such as the DOE and the EPA.
The federal energy advocate team is also responsible for advocating at the regional and national levels in the interests of the retail electric customers in Ohio.
Every year our forecasting team generates a twenty-year forecast of energy requirements. That is the state of Ohio's long-term needs for petroleum products, natural gas, nuclear, and coal. Similarly, we develop a twenty-year forecast of energy requirements by sector type. This includes the residential, commercial, industrial, electric utility, and transportation sectors.
