Last month’s Innovation Roundtable collaboration between Strategy& and Public Utilities Fortnightly focused on how executives at four leading companies have progressed with the execution of their innovation programs over the last several years.
These senior executives have personally led internal programs in their respective companies and have compelling perspectives about what has and has not worked, and how to unlock broader employee participation and accelerate outcomes from innovation.
While prior experience has been instructive for these executives, and innovation is taking hold within their companies, they know they cannot rest on their initial successes. Well-financed competitors are changing the rules of the game and an extended time-to-market will not achieve the outcomes they are pursuing.
They also know that long-term innovation must move beyond where initial focus has been centered — productivity and efficiency.
